Greek Grades Finish Strong Once Again

January 27 , 2007 - The grade report for the Fall 2006 semester was recently released, and once again the WVWC Greek Community gave a very strong academic performance.

Overall, while there was a slight drop in both the Panhellenic and Interfraternity Council GPA’s, they still scored high over the all men’s and all women’s GPA for WVWC, holding a margin of at least .2 grade points.

On the fraternal side of the Greek community, Theta Xi proved to be quite successful. Last semester they out performed the other fraternities by winning the titles of Highest Active Member GPA, Highest House GPA, and Highest Overall GPA. Theta Xi, the 2005-2006 President’s Cup winner, has a history of performing very well academically.

Theta Chi also did well, capturing the title of Highest New Member GPA.

The competition was intense yet again within the sororities.

Zeta Tau Alpha achieved some of the highest grades in several years, capturing the titles of Highest Active Member GPA and Highest Overall GPA.

Alpha Delta Pi also did well, receiving recognition for having the Highest New Member GPA.

The response the grade report has been very positive and optimistic thus far.

Robin Powell, President of the Panhellenic Council had this to say about the report:

“Once again the Greek men and women have shown that they are able to excel in the classroom, while dedicating time in service to the Wesleyan and Buckhannon communities, their chapter’s philanthropic foundations, and participating in various organizations on campus. As president of Panhellenic Association, I am proud to represent a group of women who hold academics to such high standards and demonstrate determination and well-roundedness."

The official report will be reviewed by the WVWC Greek Alumni Council sometime in February.

There is typically no academic assembly for the Interfraternity Council, but an assembly is currently being planned for the Panhellenic Council sometime in February following Recruitment and Bid Weekend.
