DeFelice Makes Alpha Gamma Delta Proud

March 1, 2007 - Amanda Defelice, senior and sister of Alpha Gamma Delta wll represent her sorority’s national office as a Leadership Consultant (LC).

Within sorority life, a LC travels to various chapters around the country and assists them in various ways; typically through recruitment or the leadership structure of the chapter.

The LC also meets with officers, chapter advisors, and the campus Greek advisor to check on the health of the chapter and provide suggestions on how to run the chapter more efficiently.

Each LC only serves for a year, but it is considered a very large honor to have the chance to serve as one. By many organizations and businesses, an LC position is a huge asset to have on any resume.

When asked what drew her to being a LC, DeFelice had this to say:“I wanted to be an LC because I thought it would be an amazing once in a lifetime opportunity. It is very exciting when I think about all the travel experience I will gain through this position and all of the Alpha Gams that I will meet! “

While there are no concrete requirements to serve as LC, each interest member must fill out an application, consisting of various general questions and essays, and turn in two letters of recommendation.

In the case of Defelice, the competition for such a position was stiff. Over 50 women from Alpha Gamma Delta chapter nationwide applied for the position. Only 19 of these women were invited to the Alpha Gamma Delta National Office Headquarter in Indianapolis for interviews. In the end, only eight women were selected to serves LC for the 2007-2008 Academic Year.

Training will take place during July and August. Each LC will fly out to Indianapolis and all training will occur within the Alpha Gamma Delta National Office.

DeFelice in addition to this exciting opportunity, is also active within her sorority, serving as both President and Vice President of Recruitment. She is also a member of several honoraries.

As her senior year winds down, DeFelice has so much to look forward to:“I am so excited about this opportunity! It has been such an honor to be an Alpha Gam and Alpha Gamma Delta has given me so much during the past four years. I am thrilled to have this opportunity to give something back to an organization that means so much to me,” said Defelice.
