Scholarship Assembly

September 26, 2006 - On September 20, 2006, West Virginia Wesleyan College's Panhellenic Association and Greek Community hosted their annual Scholarship Assembly, giving special recognition to organizations and individuals with high grade point averages and scholastic achievement. The Panhellenic Association is the governing body of all the sororities on West Virginia Wesleyan College's campus.

For the first time since Greek Life records began in 1966, all fraternity and sorority overall GPA's are above a 3.0. "I cannot believe how hard these men and women have been working," said John Bohman, Director of Greek Affairs.

Alpha Gamma Delta sorority won the overall GPA with a 3.33 and the active member GPA with a 3.63, while Zeta Tau Alpha sorority won the new member GPA with a 3.53.

"I look forward to all Wesleyan's Greek organizations keeping up this trend," said Robin Powell, Panhellenic Association President. "The fact that we can show WVWC and the Buckhannon Community how hard we are trying to get good grades and be active in community service means a great deal to me and everyone else involved."

WVWC's Greek Alumni were also very surprised and pleased with the academic news. "Being an active Greek alumnus from WVWC, I am extremely excited hearing about the accomplishments all the organizations have made," said Jess Olcott, class of 2006. "It gives me a lot of hope knowing that our community is headed upwards in such a positive direction."
